Corner Closet Ideas

No space for your clothes? Take advantage of your home's corners.

If you find yourself battling a lack of space or seem to always have clutter, a corner closet may be the answer for you. Corner closets are structures built or placed into a corner in an effort to utilize as much space as possible. Whether you're looking to organize your wardrobe or add more space in a tight area, there are plenty of options. Does this Spark an idea?

Wardrobes

A fitted wardrobe is perfect for additional hanging space for your clothes. If your closet is getting crowded, you can use a corner wardrobe. These are smaller, lighter versions of the traditional wardrobe designed to fit in tight areas. They're made of lightweight wood and can be matched to your bedroom set.

Closets

You can build a closet using the two walls of your corner and fashioning two additional walls around it. First determine how much space you'll need and build to suit. The biggest advantage to building a corner closet is it will look as though the closet is meant to be there. You can also build to fit your needs, adding shelving or hanging areas. For the entrance, you can use an open-door style, double doors, a swinging door and even a single door. This last method requires a little more effort and is also permanent.

Corner Shelving

If you're looking for a good way to get rid of the clutter in your room without spending much money or building a structure, you can use a shelving unit. Corner shelving units can be found in many sizes and styles to fit your space and needs. They can be used to store folded clothes, shoes and any other items that are cluttering up your home.

Portable Hanging Wardrobes

You can also purchase portable hanging units, as well as hanging garment bags. Placing these items in an unused corner of your room can help clear your closet of seasonal items. You can use the garment bags to store your clothes and hang them on the portable unit, or you can use the portable unit to hang your everyday items and use your closet as storage.
