Start A Nascar Clothing Business

NASCAR is one of the most popular sports and has a large, avid fan base. Starting a business selling NASCAR clothing can be lucrative, considering how many NASCAR fans there are across the country. With a bit of planning, you can launch your NASCAR clothing business in a relatively short amount of time.

Instructions

1. Choose a name for your business that does not contain the phrase "NASCAR"--to use this word in your business name you would need permission from the organization. "Racing Threads" is a good example of a name for a NASCAR clothing business.

2. Obtain an assumed name certificate from your county clerk, a tax identification number from your state, and a federal employer identification number (EIN) from the IRS.

3. Decide where you would like to sell the NASCAR clothing. Options include setting up an online store, flea-market booth, a mall kiosk or a brick-and-mortar store. The least expensive option is setting up a flea-market booth, and the most expensive is opening a retail store.

4. Determine where you will store your NASCAR clothing if you will not be opening a store. If you have a spare closet that is free from odors, sunlight, other items and pets, you can use that. Other options include renting a small warehouse (which will cost anywhere from $400 to $700 per month) or space in a storage facility such as U-Haul or Public Storage.

5. Buy NASCAR clothing wholesale from a supplier such as Big Apple Card Company, Racing Reflections, St. Louis Wholesale, SR Racing or Sport Rep. You will need to provide your tax ID number or other proof of being in the business of retailing.

6. Take photos of the NASCAR clothing against a white background or worn on a model if you will be retailing over the Internet. Quality photos are important when selling on the Internet because customers will not have the chance to feel or see the clothes. Provide multiple angles if possible, front and back views, and measurement information.

7. Choose packaging for your orders. Retail stores, mall kiosks and flea-market retailers might want to purchase branded bags from a supplier such as Nashville Wraps. If you have an online store, you can put a branded sticker on your invoices or shipping boxes.

8. Advertise your business by purchasing inexpensive ads on popular NASCAR fan sites, blogs and in niche publications. Facebook is another place where you can place ads that don't cost much.
