Embellish Closet Doors

Make your closet door stand out.

The closets in your home may serve a utilitarian purpose, but that does not mean they have to be dull and boring. On the contrary, you can make your closet doors a showcase for your decorating talents. All it takes is some paint, some new ideas and a bit of work. You can even transform your old closet door into your own personal art gallery. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Create a family photo gallery on your plain closet door. Use a photo collage to display an ever-changing assortment of family memories and special photographs.

2. Apply decals, stencils and appliques to your traditional or bi-fold closet doors. Use those decorative items to create an overall theme for your closet doors. You can incorporate the overall design of your bedroom into the closet door theme, or create a whole new look just for your closet.

3. Paint your closet door in a contrasting color instead of using the same paint color as the rest of the room. For instance, if your bedroom has white walls, consider painting your closet door a bright blue, green or red. These contrasting colors really make your closet stand out from the rest of the room.
