Cleaning your storage room can be a daunting yet rewarding process.
Even the most well organized storage room needs a little cleaning every now and then to fight dust and mold buildup. Cleaning out the room and its contents on a regular basis can help prevent erosion of your stored materials or lasting damage due to moisture. Instructions
1. Move the stored materials out of your storage room. Wipe the items down with a dusting cloth or rinse them off if they are waterproof. Leave them outside the room until you finish cleaning the room.
2. Look through the items to see if you can discard any unnecessary ones. One way to clean your storage area is to remove some of the clutter.
3. Sweep the floor of the storage room and use the broom to take out any webs around the ceiling. You can also use the broom to dust away any dust composites from the walls.
4. Mop the floor in the storage room using hot water and soap. Use a scrubbing brush to clean away any particularly tough stains that the mop cannot remove.
5. Mix a solution containing one part bleach and three parts water if you find mold in your storage room or mold on the items you are storing. Scrub the mold away using a sponge dipped in the water and bleach solution.
6. Set wooden pallets on the floor of the storage facility if moisture is a concern in your storage room. The pallets will elevate the stored items, which will keep them out of thin layers of water that collect on the floor of your storage room.
7. Move the items to be stored back into the storage room. Set them on top of the wooden pallets. Drape a tarp over the stored materials to help protect them from dust and dirt that may accumulate before you clean the room again.
