Shoe Organizer Ideas

Organize your shoes and reduce clutter.

Reduce your frustration and clutter by keeping your shoes organized. Many different strategies can help. Do what works best for you and your home. This may involve using several different kinds of shoe storage. Does this Spark an idea?

Over the Door

Over-the-door shoe storage comes in many different sizes and styles. Count the number of shoes you want to store to help you decide the size of your shoe storage. Pick a style of over-the- door hanger to fit your personal preferences. These come with either pockets to put your shoes in or wire loops to put your shoes on.

Hanging shoe storage is similar to over-the-door storage. This can be hung from your clothing bar and usually holds about 10 pairs of shoes.

Under the Bed

Consider storing your shoes in a container under your bed. Specific storage units exist just for this purpose. These can usually hold around 10 pairs of shoes. Measure the clearance under your bed before making a purchase so that you can be sure the organizer will fit.

Shoe Compartments

Shoe compartments will take up floor space but they allow you to fit a large number of shoes in neat little cubbyholes. You can purchase multiple units to fit all of your shoes. These usually come in white and several different stain colors.

Storage Boxes

Choose between purchasing clear shoe storage boxes that stack neatly together or using the original boxes that the shoes came in. If you use the original boxes, take a picture of the shoes that are inside and tape or glue it to the outside of the box so that you know what shoes are in the box without having to pull it down and open it. Storage boxes can be stacked on shelves to maximize space in your closet.

Coat Hooks

If you're looking for a more creative way to store your shoes, consider installing a coat rack just off the floor. Install it high enough that you can hang your shoes on the hooks without them touching the floor. This can be installed right near the front door, on the inside of a closet door or even in the garage. This is an ideal place to organize the shoes that you use the most.

Shoe Rack

Shoe racks are usually smaller, making them convenient for storing a few favorite pairs of shoes. These come in many different sizes and styles. You could even consider purchasing or making shelving and simply put your shoes side by side on the shelves.

Using shoe storage allows you to find your shoes much more quickly. It also helps prevent damage from scuffing and from being squished or stepped on.
