Decorate A Clothing Divider

Organize your closet with clothing dividers that you have decorated yourself.

If you find that whenever you open your closet, it takes a few minutes to locate that shirt or pair of pants that you're looking for, you may want to organize your closet with clothing dividers. While you can purchase predecorated clothing dividers at many retail stores, they are often expensive. You can make them easily on your own with supplies you probably already have lying around the house; simply purchase some blank white clothing dividers and decorate them in a way that captures your style.

Instructions

1. Make a list of the way you want to organize your closet, basing it on how you will section off areas of the closet. Perhaps you would like one section for short-sleeve shirts, one section for long-sleeve shirts, one section for dresses, etc. Count the number of sections that you would like to create. This is the number of rack dividers that you need.

2. Purchase as many round blank white plastic rack dividers as you need to organize your closet, as determined in Step 1.

3. Place a sheet of stiff paper on a flat surface. Place the rack divider on top of the paper. Trace along the outer edge of the rack divider with a pencil. Also account for the small slot in the disc shape of the rack divider and the center circle. This will be the template from which you will create the actual paper coverings.

4. Cut out the rack divider's shape that you traced on the stiff paper.

5. Use the template you created in Steps 3 and 4 to create the actual paper cutouts. Place a piece of patterned or solid-colored paper face down on a flat surface. Place the template on the paper and trace around it, making only a light pencil mark so that it does not press through to the other side of the paper. Cut out the paper along the lines you traced.

6. Put a small amount of glue on the foam brush and evenly brush it onto the back of the paper cutout. Press the paper cutout onto the rack divider. Smooth it out as you see necessary to get rid of any air pockets or bubbles.

7. Repeat Steps 5 and 6 with a variety of coordinating patterns and colors until you have as many clothing dividers as you need.

8. Handwrite labels or use a label maker to print out label names. Choose names based on the sections that you want to create in your closet, such as "Pants" or "Dresses." Hang the rack dividers in your closet after organizing your clothing.
