Organize A Male Bedroom

Organizing a male's bedroom can be an uphill battle

Whether deserved or not, many males are stereotyped as being sloppy and disorganized. If you've recently moved in with a male, or are a male who's wishing to better organize his bedroom, the task is not impossible. Whether the bedroom is large or small, or the male has many possessions or few, there are ways to make better use of space and eliminate clutter. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Remove all the clutter from the room before you begin thinking about how you'll organize things. It can be difficult to get a feel for the room when it's covered in clothing, sports equipment, books and other items. Place the room's items in a separate room and sort through them. If there are things that you should discard, now is the ideal time to do so.

2. Size up the dresser and clothes closet to ensure they are large enough to hold the male's clothes. If not, there are two ways you can address this problem -- buy a larger dresser or purge the clothes that the male no longer wears. If a male's dresser and closet aren't large enough to handle his clothing, it becomes easy to leave them on the floor or on furniture.

3. Place a clothes hamper in the room or in a nearby room in the house. Having a proper hamper nearby will help encourage the room's occupant to keep his clothes either in his dresser and closet or in the hamper.

4. Add any required shelving units to the room to help provide storage space for the male. If the room is small, adding wall-mounted shelves is ideal because doing so doesn't decrease the floor space. If possible, add a floor-mounted entertainment unit that will house the male's television, stereo, video game system and his CDs and DVDs.

5. Install a wall-mounted bookshelf if the male has a large collection of books. If all the books won't fit, consider putting some of the lesser-read books in boxes and relocating them to the home's basement or another storage area.

6. Provide storage boxes that will fit under the bed. These boxes can either slide out or have wheels that allow them to roll out. In either case, they're helpful because they allow for additional storage in a place that isn't often used effectively. You can store books, toys, games or even excess clothing in these boxes.
