Easy Way To Paint Closets

Easy Way to Paint Closets

Painting the room closet can give a fresh, new look to the entire room. It can also be an addition to the value of your home, which is an investment in the property. Painting closet doors alone is not sufficient as it is equally important to paint from inside. Since we put our valuable clothes and shoes in these tiny rooms, it is important to make them look nice and tidy even from the inside. Closet painting does not have to be a challenging task, as there are ways to simplify the project. Does this Spark an idea?

Painting Inside

Often people start painting directly from the closet doors. However, it is better to start from inside the closet and then approach the outer walls later. Take out everything and clean the walls with a soft cloth. Make sure that the wall is free from dirt and mold. If there are attached shelves inside, cover them up properly using newspapers, unless you are painting them. You may also use masking tape. Once you have covered the shelves, cover the floor tiles using either newspapers or dropcloths. Unlike large rooms, a closet is a relatively small place, and you can use a small roller and brush, which will help you reach small spaces easily. Let the paint dry for at least 30 minutes before starting the second coat. Before putting your stuff back inside, let the second coat dry for at least an entire day. Avoid putting heavy things on the shelves right away if you have painted them.

Painting Doors

In order to paint the closet doors, start by removing all the obstacles like hooks, nails and adhesive material from the door surface. Remove door handles and locks. Repair any scratches or damage so you have a smooth surface to paint. Clean thoroughly.

Paint the doors from bottom to top; this helps paint to go in the direction of the wood grain. Let the paintbrush drag off the door edge, which will help creating a smoother look. Once you are done, wipe off the excessive paint using an old rag. Let it dry for an entire day before turning the doors over and painting the opposite sides.
