A mismatched closet can frustrate almost anyone trying to get ready quickly.
Getting ready for work in the morning or for an evening out should be a quick, fun experience. Instead, many find themselves sorting through mismatched clothing hung in no particular order, with little rhyme or reason. It can be difficult to gain a full idea about what to wear when you spend most of your time looking through what you have. A color wheel helps speed up the selection process and brings order to your closet.
Instructions
1. Remove all items and clothing from your closet. Take out everything. This gives you a fresh start and allows you to see the potential space for your items. Sort through hangers and discard any broken or damaged hangers. If desired, go through your clothing and sort out items that no longer fit or are beyond repair.
2. Separate clothes by type. Sort through your clothing and separate tops and bottoms and full items such as dresses. Set the types of clothing in piles or on the closet rack.
3. Organize tops by color. Take out your color wheel. Starting with the light clothing, place your white tops first, from tank tops to short sleeves, then long-sleeved items. The next color in the closet should be beige, off-white or natural white, followed by yellows. Use the color wheel to proceed with the next color choices, looking to the color after yellow on the wheel for the next color choice. Finally, finish with black tops. Always apply the clothing-type separation within color, tank tops to long-sleeved.
4. Organize bottoms and dresses by color. Bottoms have fewer color variations than tops, so separating them by color shouldn't take as long. Follow the same color pattern as the tops, starting with white, then off-white, then yellow, and follow the color wheel for the rest of the colors; finish with black.
