Make A Jewelry Hanger

Your jewelry can be organized with a jewelry hanger for your closet.

A jewelry hanger can organize your necklaces, bracelets, earrings and rings in your closet. The attractive hanger is made from clear vinyl, found at fabric stores, that puts your jewelry collection in clear view. Using a sewing machine is the best method of making this project, which would make a great birthday or holiday gift for a jewelry lover. A teenager with a flair for organizing and sewing could tackle this jewelry hanger project with ease. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Measure the width of the wire pants hanger and cut the wool felt and clear vinyl to the width measurement and 28 inches long.

2. Draw a grid on the clear vinyl, using the pen and ruler, to create six rows of six 4-inch squares with a 1/2-inch border on the sides and bottom and a 4-inch border on the top.

3. Pin the vinyl to the wool felt along the grid lines. Sew a straight stitch through all lines with the sewing machine, using the size 16 needle.

4. Place the fabrics on a flat surface like a table, vinyl side facing up. Cut through the top edge of each square 1/4-inch down from the sewing line with the craft knife, using the ruler to guide the knife. Cut through the vinyl only.

5. Attach the vinyl and felt to the hanger by folding the top edge of the vinyl and felt over the wire 1 1/2 inch and sewing a line of straight stitching on the sewing machine to secure the jewelry pockets to the hanger.
