Buy A Home Sauna

Proponents of home saunas claim that they are the most effective, natural means of removing toxins from the body. There are many different styles of saunas and two major types--Finnish and infrared. Daily sauna use has been shown to improve cardiovascular function and reduce stress, as well as assist with weight control, pain management and more.

Instructions

1. Choose the type of sauna you want. The two main types of saunas are Finnish (traditional) saunas and infrared saunas. Finnish saunas use hot rocks and a heating element to heat the air in the sauna to 180 to 220 degrees F. On the other hand, an infrared sauna is heating the body rather than the air. The temperature in an infrared sauna is 100 to 130 degrees F. Therefore, infrared saunas are better for people who don't enjoy extreme heat.

2. Learn about the benefits of a sauna. Infrared saunas take less time to heat up and use less electricity. They are also healthier for people with chronic conditions. Many studies have shown that saunas, particularly infrared saunas, help remove toxins from the body. However, experts disagree about the amount of toxins that are released. Saunas raise a person's core temperature to 100.4 degrees F, which simulates a fever. This promotes healing and stimulates the immune system to produce more white blood cells and antibodies. Saunas also make our hearts beat faster, which increases blood flow. This helps vital nutrients and oxygen reach the organs faster.

3. Think about the size of a sauna. You can purchase a sauna that seats one person or a sauna that seats six. If you live in an apartment or small house, you can purchase a portable sauna that folds into a small package for easy closet storage. Be realistic about how much space you can reasonably devote to your sauna.

4. Try out different saunas at a showroom or a pool and spa show. Once you've decided which type you prefer, you can order brochures from manufacturers and make your choice. If you choose an infrared sauna, visit the Gaia Saunas site and order a brochure. Don't forget to look at warranties, too, since these vary greatly among sauna manufacturers.
