Decorate A Small Nursery

Decorate a Small Nursery

A nursery is usually a small room, meant for a tiny occupant. For this reason, care must be taken when making decorating choices. While most expectant mothers look forward to creating a beautiful room, decorating a small nursery can be difficult due to the simple fact that a baby needs a lot of stuff. If your baby's nursery is small, there are some decorating choices you can make to maximize the space and create a pleasing room for your bundle of joy. Follow these steps. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Choose paint carefully. It is best to stay away from bright wall colors in a small nursery. It is also a good idea to limit the number of colors on the wall. Try choosing two colors, and using the second sparingly. For example, paint three of the walls a pale blue, and paint vertical pale green stripes on the fourth wall. Accent walls make a room look larger, and the vertical stripes will also make the room seem taller.

2. Choose a simple theme. You probably don't want to try to cram a loud theme into a small room. For example, themes that feature a lot of noise, such as a circus or jungle theme, are going to be too much for a tiny nursery. Instead, stick to simple themes, such as teddy bears, trains, butterflies, or use color as a theme instead.

3. Use bright color to highlight. Don't overwhelm a room with many bright colors. Instead, choose a neutral color for the walls, and then add brighter colors here and there, such as a colorful mobile, a row of balls on a white shelf or a framed ABC poster.

4. Make wise furniture choices. A crib is a must, but many people find that a changing table isn't. Instead, place a changing pad on top of a long dresser. Save one of the top dresser drawers to fill with diapers and changing supplies. A small lamp can fit on a shelf on the wall rather than a side table, and books can be stored in the closet or also on wall shelves.

5. Hang mirrors. While a large, heavy mirror is not a good idea, you can still use mirrors to make the space look larger. In addition, babies love to look at themselves in a mirror. Consider hanging a full-length mirror on the closet door, or hanging several circular mirrors without frames on the wall, creating a polka dot effect.
