Build A Hammock In A Closet

Create a relaxation spot by building a closet hammock.

Sometimes you need a place to relax that is small and private. Although your house may not appear to have space for a relaxation spot, you can always set up a large closet as a place to unwind and relax. You can even build into the closet a hammock that you can lay back in, creating the perfect tiny sanctuary for meditation. You can install a closet hammock using materials and tools you can find inexpensively at any home improvement store. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Run a stud finder along the walls in the closet to locate all of the studs. Decide on the two walls you will use to build the hammock, and mark those walls' studs using a pencil.

2. Drill a hole into a stud in each of the two walls you decided on in Section 1, using a drill with a 1/4-inch drill bit. Position the holes 60 inches above the floor.

3. Screw a 1/2-inch "O" ring screw into both holes. Position the O's so they are lying parallel to the floor.

4. Insert the rope end on one side of a 36- to 48-inch-long hammock through one of the "O" rings, and tie the rope into a tight square knot.

5. Insert the other rope end through the remaining "O" ring, then tie it into a tight square knot.

6. Reposition and retie the ropes as needed in order to achieve the perfect hammock height in your new closet sanctuary.
