Sew A Closet Organizer

Keeping a neat and tidy home makes achieving everyday tasks less time-consuming as it doesn't leave you digging through disorganized piles of stuff for the items you need. Save yourself time each morning when you get dressed by keeping your closet streamlined. Store all the small items, such as wallets, jewelry, ties and even tights in a homemade hanging closet organizer. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Measure the width of your hanger at its widest point. Cut a strip of felt 1 1/2 inches wider than the width of the hanger and 72 inches long.

2. Fold the strip of felt in half, bringing the short edges together. Lay the folded felt on your work surface vertically oriented. Lay the hanger on top of the felt, centered from left to right, with the hook of the hanger hanging over the folded edge. Trace the top slanted edges of the hanger onto the felt with a fabric marker.

3. Sew the two layers of felt together along the hanger tracing. Cut away the excess felt 1/4 inch out from hanger seams. Cut a slit in the folded edge between the two seams to create a hole for the hook of the hanger to fit through.

4. Cut six 6-inch-long strips of felt the same width as you cut the first strip of felt. Pin one strip on the outside of each side of the folded strip of felt. Line up the long ends of the strips with the bottom edges of the organizer. Sew the two strips together along the bottom and sides of the smaller strip. Sew another seam down the center of the smaller strip to split the large pocket into two smaller ones.

5. Create two more rows of pockets on each side of the larger felt strip with the remaining four smaller strips. Place each row of pockets 3 inches above the previous row. Divide the larger pockets into smaller ones however you see fit.

6. Slide the hanger between the two layers of the large felt strip, poking the hook of the hanger through the slit you cut.
