How Is The Closet Maid Shelf Attached To The Wall

ClosetMaid Shelving Units

ClosetMaid shelving units are sold at most major home improvement stores, and also online through the ClosetMaid website. These units are manufactured to standard closet specifications, and can be adjusted to fit your own space. They can add extra shelving space to a laundry room, extra shelves to a wardrobe closet and extra bars for hanging clothes. These units are typically between $20 and $80, depending on size and function. The shelving units themselves come in either 12- or 16-inch depths and are made from heavy-duty white vinyl-coated wire, which protects items from slipping off.

How They Are Attached

There are two different ways that a ClosetMaid shelf can be attached to the wall. First, you can attach the shelf to the wall directly with a support bracket. The support bracket comes with the shelving unit. Depending on the amount of weight that will be held on the shelf, you may need to install the bracket into studs in the wall. You can also purchase a shelf track system from ClosetMaid. This system comes with two long rods with holes in them, in lengths of 40 to 80 inchees. These rods are drilled into the wall vertically and the shelves are installed at various spots along the system. Then a separate bracket is attached to the shelving unit and the shelves are snapped into place on each of the vertical rods. The shelves can be placed in varying heights along the bracket to allow for some small items to be stored on one shelf, and then taller items to be stored on another.

Function

ClosetMaid shelving units allow individuals to customize their closet space in an affordable, functional and good-looking way. They all look similar, but they each hold different levels of weight, which should be considered carefully while you are planning installation. For heavier uses, like in the garage, you will need to get the corresponding wall hinge and install it directly into a stud for additional support.
