The closest resorts to Disney World are owned by Disney.
This sprawling vacation kingdom of Disney World covers more than forty square miles southwest of Orlando in Lake Buena Vista, and the surrounding area is bursting with hotels, restaurants, shopping outlets and attractions. Since Walt Disney World is a resort complex itself, the closest resorts to Disney World are the Disney-owned hotels and resorts. Whether you choose to stay at a Disney resort or a resort close to Disney, Orlando vacations are family favorites.
Walt Disney World Resorts
One Disney resort shares a savannah with Disney's Animal Kingdom.
There are eighteen hotels and resorts on Disney property, offering everything from no-frills campsites to family-friendly guest rooms to five-star luxury and everything in between. All Disney resort hotels feature individual themes, and each property has its own special flair. Disney transportation operates at all Disney hotels.
For visitors looking for a basic hotel room on Disney property, the four value resorts (Disney's All-Star Movies Resort, Disney's All-Star Music Resort, Disney's All-Star Sports Resort and Disney's Pop Century Resort) offer standard rooms, usually with two double beds, a food court, themed pools and grounds. The four moderate resorts (Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney's Coronado Springs Resort, Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter and Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside) are a step up, with rooms that are a bit bigger plus additional dining options and activities at the hotel.
Disney's deluxe resorts feature world-class creature comforts along with many dining options, a variety of on-site activities and views of the theme parks. Four of the deluxe hotels border the Magic Kingdom (Disney's Contemporary Resort, Disney's Wilderness Lodge, Disney's Polynesian Resort and Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa), three are adjacent to Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios (Disney's Beach Club Resort, Disney's Boardwalk Inn and Disney's Yacht Club Resort) and one shares a savannah with Animal Kingdom (Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge).
Villas are available at several Disney deluxe resorts and at two Disney Vacation Club resorts (Disney's Old Key West Resort and Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa), while tent and RV camping is popular at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort campground.
