Make Nursery Closet Dividers

Babies grow quickly, moving up through clothing sizes from week to week. Before the baby comes, you may purchase clothing of all sizes or receive them as gifts from friends. Organizing your baby clothes in the nursery closet will help you find the size you need that day, without having to dig through piles of clothes. One of the most important elements of an organized nursery closet is a set of properly labeled closet dividers. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Draw the outline of the closet divider on one piece of cardboard using a marker. The divider should be at least 10 to 12 inches wide so you can easily see it in the closet. It can be whatever length you want.

2. Draw the top of the divider to be square or rounded, but it needs to have a circle cut out in the middle to fit over the closet rod. Leave at least 1 inch of cardboard above the circle so you can label the dividers. Cut a slit in the side that meets the circle so you can slip it over the rod--in a similar fashion to do-not-disturb signs on door knobs.

3. Cut out the template with a pair of scissors. Place the template on the next piece of cardboard, trace it and cut out the next divider. Repeat for as many dividers as you need for your closet.

4. Place the template on the first piece of decorative craft paper. Trace the outline and cut it out. You will need two pieces of craft paper for each divider.

5. Glue one piece of craft paper to each side of each divider. Write size or clothing style labels on the top of each divider in the order you want to place them in the closet. For example, write "Newborn" on the first, then "3 to 6 months" on the second, and so on. Or write "Onesies," "Sleepers," "Dresses," etc.

6. Slide the slit in the dividers over the hanging rod so the hole sits over the rod. Hang up the clothing behind the appropriate divider.
