Replacing sliding closet doors or making repairs to the upper rail requires getting the closet doors off the slider rails. The slider rails are tracks that hold the upper rollers of each sliding panel. At the bottom of the opening is a floor guide with two channels. The floor guide keeps the doors level across the door opening. Getting the closet doors off the slider rails requires removing the floor guide at the bottom. Instructions
1. Slide both panels of the closet door to one side. This allows you access to remove the bottom floor guide.
2. Remove the screws securing the floor guide with a Phillips screwdriver. The screws are on the outside edges of the floor guide on both sides. Slide the floor guide away from the door panels.
3. Slide the outer panel halfway across the opening. Grab the panel by both sides. Swing the bottom of the sliding panel toward you.
4. Lift up on the panel slightly to unhook the bottom of the rollers from the groove in the upper track. Pull the sliding panel away from the opening. Repeat the process for the remaining panel.
