Disable Proset Wireless

Users generally have complete freedom to install and use any choice of native or third-party software on a PC. Intel's PROSet wireless software application is an alternative to using the native wireless networking software in the operating system. The Windows "Wireless Zero Configuration" utility is a simple, yet effective tool to help users connect to most wireless networks. PROSet, however, has tools that help to enhance wireless security, diagnose connection problems and perform many advanced tasks beyond WZC. If you do not need the benefits of PROSet, you can disable it.

Instructions

1. Click "Start" on your computer. Select "Settings." Click "Control Panel."

2. Double-click "Network Adapters."

3. Right-click "Wireless Network Connection." Click "Properties."

4. Click the "Windows Networks" tab.

5. Click to add a check mark in the box next to "Use Windows to Configure My Wireless Network Settings." Click "OK" to disable PROset Wireless from managing wireless connections and use the Windows "Wireless Zero Configuration" utility.
