Cabinet Cookware Storage

Make the most of limited kitchen space.

Smart cabinet cookware storage is an important part of the proper care and maintenance of home or professional cookware. There are many types of cookware storage solutions on the market to help cooks keep their pots and pans organized and in excellent condition, as well as make the most of limited kitchen space. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Carousels

Carousels help the home cook gain easy access to stored cookware that might otherwise get lost in the back recesses of a deep cabinet and puts hard-to-reach cabinet spaces to good use. A well-placed turntable is an ideal spot for cookware or appliances that are not used as often as others. Place items on the outer edges of the carousel for easy retrieval. When you need an item, spin the turntable to get the cookware you need within your grasp.

Baskets and Partitions

Keep cookware better organized in large cabinet spaces by dividing the space with partitions or baskets. Partitions and baskets offer a great deal of flexibility, allowing you to choose the sizes and shapes of the cabinet sections you create to suit your storage needs. A partition doesn't need to be custom-made or purchased from a kitchen supply store; it can be as simple as a tensioned shower rod placed vertically in a cabinet to keep pans separate and upright.

Mounts

Mounts are a popular kitchen storage tool. They can be placed on cabinet doors or the the roof or underside of cabinets to create storage space in areas that cannot normally be put to use. Mounted racks are designed to be lightweight and are suited for storage of lighter cookware and low-profile pieces, such as baking sheets and lids.

Stackable Storage

Stackable storage containers are ideal for use in tall cabinets, or situations in which there is no other option but to stack cookware. Containers offer protection for cookware that may be easily scratched, cracked or chipped, such as enamel, glass or nonstick pots and pans. Place cookware in labeled containers so that each piece is easy to find and won't be scraped or banged against other dishes when they're removed from the cabinet.

Pot Racks and Hooks

Pot racks and pot hooks are inexpensive tools that can be used to free up cabinet space. Cooks can install hooks inside cabinets to hang small pots and pans in otherwise unusable space in the interior of the cabinet, or install a pot rack or hook on a wall or ceiling to remove the cookware from the cabinet altogether. Racks and hooks are also useful for protecting nonstick or enamel cookware that tend to get scratched or chipped when stacked together.
