Simplify Your Closet

Simplifying your closet space takes away the clutter from your home and your mind.

Knowing simplify your closet cuts back on clutter and streamlines your ability to easily access all your stored items. Simplifying your closet space may take a little patience, but you can do it if you have the time and desire to make your life easier through the process of organization. An organized closet reduces space taken up by unneeded items and makes more room for decor and what you use every day. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Put infrequently used items in appropriately sized storage bags. Plastic storage bags are more space-friendly than bulky cardboard boxes and plastic containers. In fact, some brands of bags come with vacuum holes and devices to minimize the space taken up in your closet.

Items to store in these bags include winter clothes during the summertime and summer clothes during the wintertime, as well as items you hold onto for keepsakes like photo albums and mementos that aren't displayed openly.

2. Place a shoe caddy on the backside of your closet door if it isn't of the sliding variety. If you have a sliding closet door, hang your shoe caddy in the closet by a hanger. These items organize your shoes as well as other small items like belts, scarves and even jewelry pieces. Shoe caddies cut down on space taken up by multiple pairs of shoes that end up stacked on your closet floor.

3. Hang multiple items in dry-clean bags, such as dresses and jeans you don't often wear. Hanging multiple items in dry-clean bags cuts back on the obvious bulk of multiple articles of clothing hanging in the closet.

4. Cut back on your wardrobe by removing clothes that you don't wear from your closet. Either discard, give away or donate your unwanted clothing while simplifying your closet space.

5. Use stacking storage boxes if your closet doesn't have shelves. Stacking storage boxes provide your closet with the shelf space needed to store a myriad of items. If your closet does have shelves, stacking storage boxes aren't necessary and may only add to the clutter.
