Organize A Swimming Gala

Planning a swimming gala can be a great way to combat summer heat.

The long, hot, summer months while the kids are out of school can be a great time for you to put together a swimming gala or party. Enjoying a cool dip in a sparkling pool with friends and family can help to combat the heat as well as the boredom. Organizing this type of event can be easy and fun, and it does not take a whole lot of preparation, just a little bit of planning. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Select a date for the party. Keep in mind that even though children are out of school for the summer, parents still will be working, so it may be best to schedule the party on a Saturday. Be sure to check the weather forecast, and pick a sunny day and time for the party.

2. Contact the place where you are having the party to book the date if you don't have your own backyard pool. Be sure to call several weeks in advance to make sure you can get the date of your choice. Slots can fill up quickly during the summer months.

3. Make a list of everyone you want to invite, and mail the invitations out a week ahead of time. Be sure to include the address of the party, the time and a reminder for guests to bring towels, sunscreen or life jackets and float devices for children who may need them.

4. Fix snacks for your guests such as chips, desserts, fruit and drinks. Make sure to provide throw-away plates, napkins, cups, forks and ice. Also have extra items on hand such as towels, sunscreen and float devices in case someone forgot theirs.

5. Make sure there are plenty of adults to watch the children who will be swimming at the party, or you could hire a professional lifeguard. Go over the safety rules with guests when they arrive such as no diving in the shallow end of the pool and no running around the pool area.
