Organize A Yoga Studio

A thoroughly organized yoga studio can help your yoga students relax and concentrate fully on their yoga practice. An organized yoga studio should have a designated place for practice space, yoga props, a meditation shrine, a front desk, and changing facilities. A little organization will go a long way to creating a sense of calm and ease to the functioning of the studio. Following these steps will insure you are on your way to an organized yoga studio.

Instructions

1. Visualize how you would like the studio to be organized. It's always nice to have an idea beforehand of how the space should look and feel. Ask yourself what feels like the most natural place to arrange the key elements of the studio. If you were a yoga student at the studio, where would you be most comfortable practicing, what direction would you like to face, and would you want mirrors or not?

2. Designate a separate and safe space for all yoga equipment, either a sturdy set of shelves or a closet. Be aware that students need to be able to access the props if they are coming in late, so it's best to set up the props in an area that it easily reachable, yet out of the way.

3. Buy yoga props that you will need. Yoga mats are essential and other good choices include yoga blocks, straps, bolsters, blankets, pillows, and eye pillows. When ordering yoga equipment, be aware of the number of students you estimate will be attending classes and always over-estimate. It is extremely important to have enough yoga equipment for every student. If you already have yoga equipment, check the quality for wear and tear.

4. Separate yoga equipment with like things, placing all the mats together, etc.

5. Install hooks on the side of the shelving units or in the closet to use for hanging yoga straps.

6. Invest in earth-friendly cleaning products to clean both the studio and the equipment.

7. Designate a place in the studio as a meditation or shrine space. This will be a space for flowers, incense, candles, and other spiritual items.

8. Designate a front desk or office space area for organization that is located away from, and will not disturb, the practice area.

9. Allocate a safe and covered space for students to undress and keep their belongings.
