Make Your Closet Look Like A Boutique

Hang similar items together and group by color like a boutique.

Imagine if every morning you could walk just a few steps from bed and enter a super stylish clothing boutique of your very own. Sounds like a fantasy, but you can turn this fantasy into reality by employing some of the very same techniques used at boutiques. Adding glamorous touches with a sparkling chandelier and a zebra rug is one surefire way to achieve the look on a high-end budget. Fortunately, the look of your favorite boutique can also be achieved without spending a dime. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Take inventory. A closet that's bursting at the seams doesn't look much like a boutique. If you can't remember the last time you wore something, it's probably time to get rid of it. Place all items that are not staying in plastic trash bags for donation or resale.

2. Stack folded items attractively. Sweaters and T-shirts or any item that's folded should be stacked in a neat and orderly manner.

3. Group your hanging items according to category. Hang jeans with jeans, skirts with skirts, dresses with dresses and so on.

4. Assemble all items, hanging and folded, by color. Not only does this make it easier to locate that favorite yellow sweater, it reflects the way many boutiques group clothing.

5. Display shoes like a retailer. Turn one shoe facing forward and the other in the pair facing backward. Each end of every pair is now visible at a glance.

6. Use pretty bowls and trays to hold jewelry, belts and other accessories.
