Stanley closet organizers can help make the difference between a useful space and a wasted space. Their versatile design will allow you to store more clothes efficiently. Because the installation process for these organizer units is straightforward and flexible, only basic tools are required. The design of the pieces will cover up any errors or marks made during the installation process. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Find and mark the locations of all the studs in the closet wall using a stud finder. Mark each edge of each stud to give the fullest picture of what the available installation positions are; some studs are wider than others.
2. Plan the general layout on paper of the organization system you will be using. Draw the space to scale, and put the various components within the space, using scaled and accurate spacing and allowing at least a few extra inches to compensate for inaccuracy.
3. Determine which studs will support the vertical closet organizer brackets. Position the brackets against the studs vertically. Place a carpenter's level alongside the bracket vertically and make sure it is being installed plumb. Mark the screw holes for the bracket, spacing them at least every 8 inches.
4. Remove the brackets and drill into each of the marked holes until the drill bit hits the wood stud in the wall. Use a wood drill bit slightly smaller in diameter than the wood screws. Back out the drill if no stud is found and try another position. Move the bracket entirely if no stud can be found easily.
5. Position the bracket back in place and set a 3-inch wood screw in each hole. Tighten the screws halfway, straighten the bracket to install it evenly and tighten each of the screws.
6. Position the various organizational sections according to your previous layout. Attach shoe racks to the bottom of the brackets by lowering them into place in the bracket holes.
7. Attach shelves as needed throughout the setup by lowering the rear tabs of the shelves into the holes in the brackets. Clustering them together makes a stacked bookcase of sorts for folded clothes. Place a shelf near the top of each closet area to take advantage of hard-to-access storage space.
8. Install a clothes bar by sliding each of the supports for the clothes bar onto the main metal or wood clothes bar. Lower the tabs at the back of the supports into the holes in the brackets, letting the force and friction of the positioning keep the clothes bar in place within its supports.
9. Assemble the frames for drawers by shaping the two side boards and the top and bottom board into a frame with the help of an assistant. Drill the included screws through the predrilled holes in the boards to attach them together. Lower the frames onto the brackets by sticking the tabs in the back of the frames into the holes in the brackets. Slide the drawers into the frames.
