Take Out Louvered Closet Doors

Louvered closet doors come out quickly.

Making repairs to your closet or replacing doors sometimes requires removing the closet door. Louvered closet doors are most often bifold type doors. They give you full access to the items in the closet without taking away any room visually or physically. The bifold door has two panels connected with center hinges; they fold against each other. You won't need to take any hardware off the door panels to remove louvered closet doors. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Open the louvered closet door. If you have a closet that uses the bifold doors, open both completely. The louvered bifold panels on each door should come together.

2. Loosen the screw securing the top pivot bracket inside the upper track with a flat-head screwdriver. The upper door pin hooks into the top pivot bracket.

3. Grab the two panels of the louvered bifold door at the sides. Lift up to compress the upper pin into the bracket, and swing the bottom of the door away from the lower bracket. Once the bottom is clear of the lower bracket, pull the door panels down and completely away from the closet. Repeat for the second set of door panels.

4. Slide the top pivot bracket toward the center of the upper track so that it is not covering any screws securing the upper track. Remove the screws securing the upper track with a Phillips-head screwdriver, starting at each ends and working toward the center.

5. Hold the center of the upper track with one hand while removing the center securing screw with the other. Pull the upper track down and away from the closet.

6. Remove the screws securing the lower door brackets to the floor or closet side jamb with the Phillips-head screwdriver.
