Organize A China Closet

China cabinets will protect your most expensive dishes.

A china closet, also known as a china cabinet or hutch, is a piece of furniture in which you store china plate ware and other fancy dish ware. The china closet generally has a drawer section and then a decorative upper section that consists of shelving and glass doors. The glass doors allow you to display your china while keeping it protected from breaks and dust. Organizing the china closet is a simple process. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Remove all the china from the drawers and shelves of the closet. Wipe down the inside of the drawers and the shelves with a damp sponge to remove any dust, and then dry the closet with a lint-free towel.

2. Place the flatware in the top drawer of the china closet. This includes forks, spoons and butter knives.

3. Lay any sharper cutlery, such as steak knives, in the second shelf.

4. Fold all your napkins, table linens or place mats into neat piles and store them in the last drawer. If your closet only has two drawers, put the sharp knives with the flatware and give the linens the second drawer.

5. Line the top shelf of the hutch section with your glassware. This includes wine glasses or champagne glasses.

6. Place three to five plate holders against the back of the second shelf, depending on the width of your china closet. Set plates upright in the plate holders. Place saucers in front of each plate.

7. Cut coffee filters to fit the bottom of your coffee cups. Place the coffee filters on the saucers, and place the coffee cups on the filters. This will prevent rattling.

8. Stack any remaining bowls or plates on the third shelf, with coffee filters between each piece.
