Organize The Closet

Unorganized closets make it difficult to keep the rest of a home organized, as it can be a chore to put even a single item away, and it can be hard to find items in the closet you are looking for. In addition, a messy closet can be harmful to the items stored inside. A well-organized closet will make storage and retrieval much easier for you, and once you create a system to organize your clothes and accessories, it will not be difficult to maintain. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Take everything out of your closet.

2. Sort through your clothing. Throw away any clothing that is irreparably stained or damaged. Donate clothing that you have not worn in six months or that no longer fits you.

3. Place out-of-season clothing into an under-the-bed storage container.

4. Determine if any non-clothing items can be discarded or should be stored somewhere else.

5. Place the non-clothing items that will stay into medium-sized boxes. Label each box with the contents using a permanent marker. Place the boxes in the closet.

6. Place the remainder of your clothing back in your closet. Sort the garments by the situations in which you will wear them, such as work clothing, casual clothing or formal wear.

7. Place small accessories, such as belts, scarves and handbags, in an over-the-door closet organizer.
