Organize A Cluttered Master Bedroom

When clutter has taken over, there are a few actions that can restore calm and order. The master bedroom is a pivotal place to begin organizing because it should be a haven for those who live in it. With a few techniques, it's easy to organize a cluttered master bedroom. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Remove all clutter from the master bedroom. Leave only the bed and other heavy furniture in the room.

2. Categorize all items taken out of the bedroom. Give away or sell things that will no longer be used. In order to have an organized room, there will need to be less to clutter it up. The more you give away, the easier it will be to organize a cluttered master bedroom.

3. Clean the room before bringing anything back in. Vacuum the floor, clean the windows and dust the corners.

4. Utilize the space under the bed. Under-the-bed storage containers can hold anything from out-of-season clothing to shoes or hobby supplies.

5. Place bedside tables next to the head of the bed. Tables that have drawers and shelves are very useful. These tables can hold books, frequently accessed magazines, writing supplies or other items that need to be kept on hand. Keep the tops of the tables clear of clutter by placing everything in the drawers and on the available shelves.

6. Display candles, photographs and other keepsakes on the single display shelves. Installing a few of these shelves will help to organize a cluttered master bedroom by providing a place for new and currently owned objects. Display shelves also add to the visual appeal of a master bedroom. Choose wood shelves that complement the wood in the bedside tables and larger shelving units.

7. Place all laundry baskets and other housekeeping items in a closet or bathroom. This frees the master bedroom to present a less cluttered picture.

8. Use larger shelving units to hold all other books and media that will be kept in the master bedroom. Sort through these belongings and organize them according to type of media and size.

9. Keep household business and work out of the master bedroom. Sort and file mail in the kitchen or home office. Store filing boxes in closets. This will leave the master bedroom to function as a place to sleep and relax.

10. Continue to organize a cluttered master bedroom every day. Make the bed every morning, put away clothing and accessories after each use and keep the shelves and tabletops clear. Vacuum once or twice each week in this low-traffic area.
