Talk show hostess Oprah Winfrey has an incredible closet inside Harpo Studios in Chicago. When she showed it to her television audience, the women were green with envy because it closely resembled a small and exclusive boutique. You may not be able to finance hiring a celebrity interior designer to recreate Oprah's closet in your home, but you can certainly follow her ideas to improve any walk-in closet. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Pull everything out of your closet and start from scratch. To recreate Oprah's fabulous closet you will need to envision your closet as a room. Oprah's closet is actually the size of a small boutique.
2. Paint your closet in a soothing, pastel shade. You may have never thought of painting your closet, but Oprah certainly did. If you have room, add shelves on one side.
3. Hang all your clothes, on padded hangers of course, in groups. All your skirts need to be together and all your pants need to be in another section. Make sub-groups by colors.
4. Find a chest of drawers that will fit inside your closet. Paint it to match the walls. To recreate Oprah's look, you will need drawers to house your socks, stockings, belts and scarves.
5. Make school-style cubbies for your purses and shoes so you can see at a glance what you have. Many stores sell inexpensive cubes that will work. The cubes need to work with the closet's colors as well.
6. Find a table that is counter top high and will fit in your closet. Oprah has a counter to lay out all the parts of an outfit.
7. Stock your recreation of Oprah's closet with plenty of good lighting and several mirrors. You'll want to take care of every last detail of your outfit. Just like Oprah, you'll be ready for the show!
