Small Bathroom Storage Ideas

Turn a shoe organizer into a bathroom organizer by hanging over the back of your bathroom's closet door.

Some bathrooms are so small, there's barely enough room to store a few towels and extra rolls of toilet paper. There are a few storage options, however, that will allow you to organize and store more items without creating a cluttered look. Each option is inexpensive and easy to procure, making a small bathroom a handy bathroom, regardless of its lack of actual space. Does this Spark an idea?

Think High

The area just below the ceiling is perfectly good, usable space, but in most homes it's never utilized. Add inexpensive wooden shelving 10 to 12 inches from your ceiling, on as many walls as possible in your bathroom. Roll towels and stash them there. Stack face cloths for a neat and tidy look. Purchase decorative boxes that complement your bathroom's decor and hide extra toiletries like shampoo, soap, razors and band aids inside of these boxes. Attach small labels so finding these items is simple.

On the Back

Utilize the back of your bathroom door, and if your bathroom has a small closet, use the back of it as well. Purchase a clear over-the-door plastic shoe holder and place this on the back of your bathroom's closet door. Stash hair brushes, your hair dryer and curling iron, shaving accessories and bathroom cleaning products in each of the clear pockets. The see-through pockets make it simple to find each item as you need it, but it is hidden from plain view until the closet door is opened.

Hang an over-the door towel rack on the back of your bathroom door for hanging bathrobes, scrub brushes and loofas, and extra towels as well.

In the Wall

This option will require the help of a contractor unless you or someone you know is handy with carpentry skills. Find a section of your bathroom where the plain wall space would better serve you as storage space. Cut into the wall between two studs. Finish off the rectangular shape created by cutting, and fit it with as many shelves as feasible for the size. Paint or stain the cubby and set toiletries and makeup on the shelves. You even can add a door to create an actual cupboard if you prefer.
