Organize a Baby Nursery That's Small
Many spare rooms or home offices become baby nurseries when a little one comes along. But organizing a baby nursery can be a challenging when you're trying to fit baby furniture, clothes, toys, and decorations in a small room. 1. Load up on closet organizers. If you have a small baby nursery that means you probably don't have much room for furniture. This means the closet will be essential for storing a lot more than just baby clothes. Hang a shelf (not a rod) that has a bar where clothes can hang. Get as many canvas baskets as you can to put on top of the shelf. These can hold blankets, hats, extra diapers, etc. Use a hanging closet organizer to organize shoes, accessories, and clothes you can't hang. This is a great way to utilize all that empty space in the middle of the closet.
2. Even the closet door holds valuable space in a small baby nursery. Don't forget to take advantage of it by hanging an organizer with large compartments. Stuff wipes, extra diapers, stuffed animals, bibs or shoes in there.
3. Purchase a baby crib that has a bottom drawer. This will give you more storage space for things like blankets and seasonal baby products that you don't need on a daily basis.
4. Utilize the floor space under your baby's crib to store clothes that no longer fit. Pack the baby clothes in vacuum packed bags and stuff them under the crib. There's no use wasting precious drawer and closet space, in a small nursery, by storing clothes that no longer fit.
5. Get a floor lamp that also functions as table. These lamps only take up about one square foot of floor space, while providing valuable shelf and storage space. They're a perfect way to create extra storage in a baby nursery that doesn't have room for a nightstand. Try to find a lamp that has at least two or three shelves. You can stack baby books, keep tissues, sit a bottle, and display pictures on the shelves.
6. Hang shelves and hooks on the wall. Wall space is an easy way to organize coats, hats, pictures, and stuffed animals that would otherwise take up valuable closet space or table top space. Hang a toy bag on the shelf of your baby's nursery and throw all her stuffed animals in there. It's a cute way to keep all the toys in one spot and will keep the toys from taking up floor space.
7. If you have a dresser, that doubles as a changing table, get a hutch to sit on top. In a small baby room this will provide extra shelving and storage space. 8. Make up a small basket of diapering essentials and sit it on the changing table. Put diapers, wipes, ointment, a toy (for distracting while you're changing) and anything else you may need when changing your baby's diaper. Keeping it all contained to one basket will help keep everything organized and will ensure a whole box of diapers doesn't take over the changing table.
