Closetmaid Wire Shelving Instructions

ClosetMaid manufactures a series of wire shelving solutions designed to help you add multiple shelves to a closet, creating an organizational structure and freeing up space. You install ClosetMaid shelving by drilling brackets to your closet walls, and then attaching the wire shelving to the brackets. Since the shelving is secured by clasps and brackets, you can cut and adjust the shelves to fit whatever space you have. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Use your level to draw a completely straight line on the back of your closet wall where you will install the ClosetMaid wire shelving.

2. Drill a 1/4-inch hole on the line that you made, 2 inches in from the edge of the wall. Drill more holes along that line, each no more than 12 inches apart. Continue until you reach the other edge of the back wall, then make the last hole 2 inches from the edge.

3. Insert your wall clips into the holes that you drilled. Push in the pin on each clip to lock it into place. You can use a hammer to lightly tap the pin if it does not move when you push it. Install a wall clip in every hole you drilled.

4. Snap the back of your shelving into the wall clips. If you need to cut the shelving to size, cut it with a hacksaw. Make your cut directly between the wires.

5. Attach a wall bracket to the front corners of the shelving, if the corner is against a wall. Place your level on the shelf. Once you adjust the height to make it level, make a mark on the wall showing the location of the wall bracket. Remove the shelving from the wall bracket and drill two 1/4-inch holes where the holes on the bracket were. Insert the bracket into the holes and push in the pins. Replace the shelving in the bracket.

6. Attach a support bracket to any shelving end that is not adjacent to a wall. Hook the teeth on the end of the bracket over the horizontal wire at the front of the shelving. Use your level to make sure the shelving is completely level. Drill a 1/4-inch hole when the hole on the bracket is level. Insert a pin into the hole and push it in to lock it in place.

7. Place a corner bracket between two shelves if they meet at a corner. Insert the angled end of the bracket up and over the third vertical wire from the end of one of the two pieces of shelving. Rotate the bracket up and place the other end over the horizontal wire on the end of the other piece of shelving.
