Organize your clothes to keep your bedroom looking its best.
Your bedroom is supposed to be the place you go to unwind and relax. If you're a fashionista, have limited closet space or share your room with a partner, however, keeping everything organized and easily accessible can become a challenge. Thinking outside the box and maximizing every inch of available storage space will ensure your bedroom is a sanctuary you can enjoy. Does this Spark an idea?
Seasonal Storage
Organize your clothes by season to maximize storage space and get bulky items, such as winter coats, out of the way when they're not needed. Invest in some space-saving bags that allow you to vacuum out excess air to reduce their size. Remove out-of-season items from your closets and dresser drawers: coats, scarves and heavy sweaters in the summer; swimwear, summer dresses and shorts for the winter. Fold them neatly and pack them away in the storage bags. Store them on a high closet shelf or under a bed. When seasons change, unpack your bags and refill accordingly.
Closet Overhaul
Even the tiniest closet can benefit from a few tweaks. If your closet has one hanging bar, consider installing more at varying heights. Short clothing items, such as skirts or pants, only need to hang a foot or so off the floor, leaving room for a second bar above it for longer items. If you have a narrow closet wall, line it with top to bottom shelves for storage of folded items or handbags. Add some hooks to the front of the shelves for hanging scarves, belts or jewelry items.
Think Outside The Closet
Utilize a small corner of a room and install shelves or cubbies for storing shoes and small clothing items. Decorate your room with lidded baskets that provide attractive storage, or add an ottoman with a removable top for hidden clothing storage space. Install decorative hooks on the back of bedroom and closet doors for hanging jackets or robes. Outfit your bed with a bedskirt and mount slide-out drawers under your bed for lots of extra storage space that doesn't detract from your decor.
