Install A Pegboard On A Wallboard

A pegboard wall is a great way to organize your tools.

Installing pegboard is an excellent way to effectively organize your working space. Basic installation of pegboard onto wallboard can be accomplished quickly and easily, and the flexibility of pegboard can allow the placement of a pegboard wall in just about any desired space. Hanging pegboard in your work area will allow you to hang just about any of your tools on the wall, as well as easily install and rearrange shelving and other hanging wall storage. This storage can be temporary or permanent. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Locate the studs in the desired pegboard area by using your stud finder. Mark their location with the pencil. Place the 1 x 2 wood boards along these studs and pre-drill the holes using a drill bit with a diameter just slightly smaller than the wood screws you will be using. Drill holes every 12 inches.

2. Attach the boards to the wall with wood screws, making sure that each screw hits the stud cleanly. These boards will anchor the pegboard to the screws, allow it to have better strength, and allow space for the metal hooks to swing inside the pegboard.

3. Lean the pegboard against the wall and press it flat against the wall surface. If necessary, use multiple sheets of pegboard to cover the wall, and cut the pegboard to fit the space. Pre-drill holes every 12 inches along the border of the pegboard and the studs in the middle.

4. Attach the pegboard to the wooden boards and the studs by screwing them tightly together with wood screws at least 2 inches in length.
