Find Extra Bathroom Storage Space

It seems that nobody ever has enough storage space in their bathroom. Even if the bathroom seemed gigantic when you moved in--after a few months your things are crowded into those cabinets that you originally thought were SO big--and you're constantly knocking things over as you reach way to the back. Fortunately, there are a number of ways you can find more storage space in your bathroom--here are several. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Install a shower caddy that hangs over the shower head to store your shampoos, soaps and hair conditioners, instead of on the edges of the shower enclosure or tub. Men can get a mirror that won't fog up in the steam and fastens to the shower walls with suction cups for shaving. Store your shaving cream and razor in the shower caddy (away from your vanity)--and as an added bonus, get a nice, close shave.

2. Add some extra towel bars, hooks or rings. Often, the back of the bathroom door doesn't have anything on it, so hanging an extra towel bar there will give you another place to store a towel. A towel hook and rings don't take up very much wall space, but a couple of them will give you more space for hanging towels or face cloths.

3. Purchase a storage cabinet that goes above your toilet. Often, the space above the toilet tank is just dead space, so putting a storage cabinet there will give you lots of extra space for things like soap, toilet tissue and hand towels.

4. Install a Lazy Susan or sliding shelf into your vanity. This will make it easier to reach things you use infrequently that always end up at the back and are difficult to reach.

5. Stack wicker or plastic bins on any existing shelves or on your new storage cabinet. By stacking the baskets you increase the amount of storage space in your bathroom, plus they have the added benefit of helping keep your bathroom neat and organized.

6. Look for tall, triangular storage cabinets that can fit into the corners of even the smallest bathrooms and provide decoration and functionality, since you can put plants or ornaments on the open shelves in addition to bathroom items.

7. Build/install an open shelf up above your medicine cabinet or mirror. The open shelf will allow you to get things up off your vanity, but they will still be easily accessible.

8. If you have an inside wall in your bathroom, you can open the wall and build a narrow storage space in between the studs. The space won't be deep, but it can literally stretch from floor to ceiling.
