A Linen Closet To The Bathroom

Linen closets hold clean sheets and towels.

Linen closets are usually found in hallways, providing a convenient place for everyone to get clean sheets, towels, washcloths, blankets, pillowcases, quilts and the like. However, some homes lack a linen closet. If this is the case in your home, or if you are using your linen closet for another purpose, a creative and convenient option is to add a linen closet to the bathroom, something you can do even if you don't have the time or the budget to knock down walls and build one. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Use a vanity with plenty of cabinet space.

Buy bathroom furniture with built-in storage. The primary piece of bathroom furniture, the vanity, is a great storage solution. Look for models with large cabinet and drawer spaces for holding linen. Instead of hanging a mirror, put up a mirrored cabinet, which instantly adds storage. And because it is wall-mounted, you don't have to sacrifice floor space in the bathroom. In larger spaces, bring in a freestanding armoire, small wardrobe or cabinet.

2. Store linen on shelves.

Use shelving. Dedicating part or all of one wall in the bathroom to shelving gives you several square feet of storage for linens. There are also shelf stands that can be placed over the toilet, allowing you to use an area that would be otherwise useless, and corner shelving units that allow you to use often-overlooked corner space. Using shelves instead of a closet encourages you to keep linens tidily stacked, which allows you to fit more into the space.

3. Create a closet. Clear out a section of the bathroom, then put up stackable racks of shelves, which you can find in any home furnishing or home improvement store. Place folded linens neatly on the shelves. Finally, using a folding screen, hanging curtain or other room divider, partition the area off from the rest of the bathroom. This makeshift linen closet adds much-needed storage space and keeps linens out of sight.
