Install A Mustang Supercharger

The Mustang is a muscle car produced and designed by the Ford Motor Company. It has been in production since 1964, making it one of the longest running production vehicles in automotive history. There are a wealth of aftermarket upgrades available for the Mustang including superchargers, which are large kits that bolt onto the engine and force large amounts of air into the air/fuel mixture. Superchargers provide major increases in horsepower and torque. The specific installation steps for a supercharger vary depending on the year and model of the Mustang, but there are some general tips which are helpful for any supercharger installation. The tools needed will vary depending on the model and year of the Mustang, and the type of supercharger

Instructions

1. Lift the hood and prop it up. Disconnect the battery by loosening the connector bolts on both cables and moving the battery cables away from the battery terminals. Wait approximately 15 minutes before proceeding to make sure that no electrical charge remains.

2. Clean the engine bay to the best of your ability. Remove as much dust, dirt and debris as possible.

3. Install the supercharger's oil drain hose onto the oil drain hose fitting.

4. Place the supercharger installation bracket on top of the engine and secure it to the engine with the included mounting hardware. Set the supercharger itself on top of the mounting bracket and connect it to the mounting bracket with the included hardware.

5. Attach the supercharger's oil line to the Mustang's oil pan. You will need to be underneath the Mustang to do this.

6. Attach one end of the intake elbow to the supercharger. Attach the other end of the intake elbow to the airflow sensor.

7. Tighten all connections according to manufacturer specifications. Never over-tighten any connective hardware, because this can damage the supercharger or even the engine itself by warping the sheet metal.

8. Connect the battery by attaching the cables to their respective terminals and tightening the bolts that hold them in place. Close the hood and start the Mustang. Allow the engine to idle for five minutes without revving.

9. Turn off the engine. Open the hood and check the engine compartment and the ground underneath for leaks. A leak is indicative of a loose connection, typically the oil line. If you see a leak, check all connections and re-tighten as necessary.
