Make A Storage Cube

Homemade storage cubes can be used to hold any number of belongings.

Wooden storage containers can help you organize your home, and can keep closets, pantries, bookshelves and cabinets in proper order. Although wooden storage containers can be purchased at any department or decorating store, they can often be costly. To organize your home, while watching your pocketbook, it is helpful to create your own wooden storage containers at home. In order to make homemade storage containers out of wood, it is important to follow a few simple steps.

Instructions

1. Use a marker to mark the pieces of wood that measure 12 inches wide by 12 inches long with the letter "A".

2. Use a marker to mark the pieces of wood that measure 11 inches wide by 12 inches long with the letter "B".

3. Place one of the "A" pieces of wood onto a flat surface.

4. Place the other two "A" pieces of wood onto the first "A" piece, lining them up so that they stand upright on opposite sides. Nail the pieces together.

5. Insert the two "B" pieces of wood onto the remaining sides on the first "A" piece. Nail the "B" pieces into place.

6. Sand the entire box using a rough grain sandpaper. Use small, circular motions with the sandpaper.

7. Sand the entire box again using a fine grain sandpaper. This will make the box very smooth.

8. Wipe off the box using a towel to remove any sawdust.

9. Paint the box using acrylic paint. Use any color you prefer.

10. Allow the box to dry completely before using it to store objects.
