Figure Linear Feet On Kitchen Cabinets

Multiply linear feet by price per linear foot to estimate costs for kitchen remodeling.

Your cabinets will cost around 60 percent of the total price of your complete kitchen renovation, according to Pat Curry of Interest.com. Contractors often use the price per linear foot, also called price per lineal foot, to estimate their pricing for cabinets. Determining the amount of cabinetry in your kitchen in linear feet helps you obtain accurate price estimates for remodeling, building or refacing cabinets. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Measure the length of each section of cabinets in your kitchen and write down each length in feet and inches as soon as you measure it. Include cabinets over appliances and tall cabinets such as a pantry or utility closet. Omit corner base cabinets with rotating shelves from the measurements.

2. Write down 2 linear feet of cabinet for a corner base cabinet with rotating shelves.

3. Multiply the width of any cabinet 6 feet high or taller by two. Use this result in place of the original measurement.

4. Add all the cabinet measurements and calculations together to determine the total linear feet of cabinet in your kitchen.
