Uninstall A Trend Micro Remote File Lock

Uninstall a Trend Micro Remote File Lock

The Remote File Lock feature of Trend Micro's Internet Security application helps keep your personal data secure. The File Vault secures the files you specify in the directory with a password feature. If your computer is lost or stolen, the Remote File Lock service can be initialized to seal the folder and make it invisible and inaccessible to the person in possession of your computer. If you have run the Trend Micro Remote File Lock service and have chosen to remove it from your computer, the uninstall process requires only a few steps and can be completed in minutes.

Instructions

1. Access your file vault and copy the files from the folder into a secondary location on your computer's hard drive. This will protect you from accidental data loss when you remove the Remote File Lock feature.

2. Verify that your Internet connection is currently active. Trend Micro will need to connect to their remote servers to update the Report Stolen records when you remove the Remote File Lock.

3. Launch your Trend Micro Internet Security application panel. This will display your main navigation panel for the software. Locate and click the "Pro Services" button on the main panel.

4. Locate the "Manage Service Components" menu in the Pro Services screen. Click the "Remove Installed Services" link.

5. Select Remote File Lock from the Installed Services list and click "Next" to uninstall. Enter your File Vault password when prompted. If you provide an incorrect password, the Remote File Lock service will not be removed.

6. Close your Trend Micro application after the removal process is complete. Restart your computer to clear the system memory.
