1. In hectic Herald Square, at the intersection of Broadway and Sixth Avenue at 34th Street, stands one of New York's most famous symbol of shopping the red star, Macy’s Department Store. The world largest store has a variety of children’s apparel on an entire floor that is three city blocks. So whether it’s Ralph Lauren or Macy’s private label, you will have no problem to find the latest to keep the little one dressed. Pricing can range low, moderate and high.


2. In almost every mall in the United States is a perennial favorite known as GAPkids. The difference is that there is only one in your local mall but New York City can boast over 120 GAPkids in Manhattan alone. Slated moderately priced but due to the large volumes of merchandise, they always have items on sale for a large savings.


3. For bargain hunters looking for out of the ordinary children’s styles, only one block from Macy’s, is H & M located at 47 W. 34th Street. This medium size clothing store is known as the "IKEA of Clothing" and is a popular chain in Europe that is surprisingly well priced for their children’s line.


4. If you are looking for a true bargain in children’s wear head across the street at 1333 Broadway to Conway’s. On the second floor there are closeouts and overstocks of items at prices so low. Imagine a children’s winter jacket for $10? The drawback is that you have to check the merchandise carefully. Also if nothing is too your liking the day you visit, return again in a few days. as their stock is replenished twice a week with different items.


5. Head all the way downtown to "New York City's Best Kept Secret," and dig through racks and bins of merchandise to find the designer labels and high quality goods for children at bargain pricing. The name is Century 21 and is located at 22 Cortland St., between Church St. and Broadway Ave. in the Financial District.


6. If it is spring, summer or fall in New York, then there must be a street fair somewhere. New York has numerous weekend street fairs with whole series of blocks closed to traffic. The street fairs are organized and varied, and the merchandise is better and you are bound to find great children’s clothes at good pricing. Check the local paper on Fridays or "New York" magazine for listings.
