Ship Storage To A Home

The methods you will use to ship storage from an outside location to your home will vary depending on the type of storage you're shipping and how much of it is being transported. These services use planes, regular cars, transport trucks and even train lines to make sure your package reaches its destination. No matter where you live you'll likely find some type of storage shipment service in your area. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Hire a moving company. The rate charged depends on the amount of storage being shipped and the distance between the storage's current location and your home. If you don't want to pack your storage yourself, you can have the moving company do that for an additional fee. Moving companies that only work in a certain area are available, as well as moving companies that can ship storage to your home from across the United States.

2. Pack up your storage yourself in boxes and ship it to your home via a company such as UPS. UPS charges different rates based on the weight of the objects being shipped as well as the type of shipping used. If you only have enough storage to fill a few medium- or small-sized boxes, pack the boxes yourself, address the boxes to your home and take them to a local UPS location for shipping.

3. Use a service such as PODS. PODS packs all of your storage items into a shipping container and ships it as freight anywhere in the country. If you have a lot of large items that need shipping or a long distance to travel, this may end up being the cheapest route as these types of services typically don't charge by weight but by number of containers.

4. Use Greyhound PackageXpress. Greyhound PackageXpress specializes in freight shipments, particularly ones that other services such UPS would consider "oversized" or "heavyweight" when compared with regular box shipments. Greyhound PackageXpress offers storage shipments same day to certain locations and overnight to most others.

5. Ship your package via Amtrak Express Shipping along any route that Amtrak trains travel. You can also ride with your shipment in certain situations on passenger cars, allowing you to see your shipment through to the end of the line.
