Portable Storage Options

If you're planning to move, the thought of packing all your belongings can be overwhelming---not to mention the worries of get all those boxes to your new home. Portable storage options allow you to load your possessions into containers that someone else will transport to your destination. They can also be an option for those with excess items to store. Prices for portable storage depend on the amount of cargo and time of month you're moving, how far your items must travel and how long you will store them. Does this Spark an idea?

ABF U-Pack Moving

This service is associated with the ABF trucking line. ABF brings storage cubes to your home that measure around 6 feet deep, 7 feet wide and 8 feet high. You can reserve as many containers as you think you'll need and only pay for the ones you actually fill with items. After the cubes are delivered, you get three business days to load them. You get the same amount of time to unload after the cubes arrive at their destination. You put your own lock on the containers and keep the key. ABF also offers storage options for those who wanted their filled cubes held at a local ABF service center for a while; however, you won't have access to your stored goods. (See Reference 1.)

PODS

This company's name stands for "portable on demand storage." It offers services to those who are moving, and those just have extra stuff they want to store. Like ABF, the PODS company delivers empty containers to you, gives you time to load them, then delivers them to a storage site or your new home. You keep the only key to your storage containers, which can come in three sizes. The largest is 8 feet by 8 feet by 16 feet. Customers can access their items at a storage facility by contacting the company 24 to 48 hours in advance. PODS customers do not face specific deadlines for loading or unloading their containers. (See Reference 2.)

Go Mini's

Much like ABF U-Pack and PODS, Go Mini's delivers storage containers to your home, gives you time to load them and then collects them when your packing is done. Go Mini's containers are all 8 feet high and come in lengths of 12, 16 and 20 feet. They have translucent roofs to allow light inside. Go Mini's can deliver the containers to your new home or store them at one of the company's sites. If the company stores your items, it requests four hours of advance notice before you come to access your unit. Containers can be stored in outdoor or indoor locations. (See Reference 3.)
