Make A Barbie Closet

Whether you collect Barbie fashions or have a little girl in your life who loves Barbie, storing clothes can be difficult. Shoes get lost. Outfits get separated. Make this cute Barbie closet, and you'll never wonder where to put a Barbie outfit again. There are even accessory hooks for organizing hats and purses.

Instructions

Build Your Barbie Closet

1. Cover the inside of the box and lid with contact paper. Work carefully to avoid puckering and wrinkling. If you dislike working with contact paper, you can decorate the inside of the box with wrapping paper, fabric, or stickers. You could also leave it undecorated if you prefer.

2. Stand the box on end. Measure eight inches up from the bottom and mark one side lightly with a pencil. Center the mark from front to back. Do the same thing on the other side. Then measure six inches up from that mark on each side and place another mark.

3. Use the hole-punch to make a hole through the cardboard at each marked point. Slide one metal dowel rod through the top two holes and one through the bottom two holes. It will extend outside the box slightly on each end. Cover the extending pieces with a plastic nut cap to keep the rods from sliding.

4. Stick the small hooks on the inside of the lid to hang purses, hats, scarves, and other accessories.

5. Lay the box flat and place the lid on top. On one long side of the box (one of the sides with the rod ends), mark three points along the lid flap and three corresponding points underneath the flap on the box itself. You want the points to match up, box to lid.

6. Punch holes through each marked point. Then use the small notebook binder rings to thread the lid to the box at each point. Now when you stand the box on end, the lid will swing open like a door.

7. Decorate the exterior however you like. You could cover it in fabric or stickers. You could paint it or make a collage. You could bedazzle it, or you could affix a sticky-backed mirror to the front, making it even more like a closet.

8. To hang clothes in your new Barbie closet, you can twist small hangers out of pipe cleaner or thin wire. Organize your clothes and accessories and enjoy!
