Colorful Closet Ideas

When it comes to home decor, the closet is one of the last places you might think to decorate. But your closet is one area in your home you might see the most, so spruce it up with a little pizazz. Colors and bold prints, as well as a few decorative touches, add life to your closet space. Does this Spark an idea?

Wallpaper Closet Walls

Bring your closet walls to life with a colorful bolt of wallpaper. You can choose a racy pattern or a solid color, depending on your personal preference. If you want the wallpaper to stand out, without overwhelming the eye every time you step into the closet, just do one wall and paint the others a neutral but complementary hue. For example, if you opt for a pink and yellow striped wallpaper, paint the other walls white or taupe.

Add Color to the Closet Door

Focus on the closet door. Attach a floor-length mirror to the door's interior, and paint the wood around the mirror in a variety of colors. You can be as expressive as you want, painting funky patterns or unusual colors. For added creativity, attach decals around the mirror in a particular theme. For example, if you paint the rim of the mirror sky blue, you might attach rainbow and cloud decals around the rest of the door's interior to match the theme.

Paint a Mural

Paint a mural on one wall of your closet. If you keep it fairly simple, this can be a fun do-it-yourself project. Paint a mural of a garden or of a rainy day. You can use simple interior paints in a range of colors and include the whole family so everyone can put their creative stamp on the mural. Outline it in pencil before the painting process begins, and be sure to take all clothing and accessories out of the closet before you begin painting.
