Get A Home Child Daycare License In Los Angeles County

The ability to provide in-home daycare in Los Angeles County requires being licensed

Providing in-home child care services is a business suited to you if you like to be around children and do not mind designating a portion of your home for such use. In Los Angeles County, California, proper licensing procedures need to be followed in order to obtain the licenses and approval required to legally operate an in-home daycare. Understanding the process and following all steps associated with getting licensed is the best way to ensure that your business gets started on the right foot.

Instructions

1. Assess your home and its condition. Make sure that the house will pass all inspections and is suitable for running an in-home daycare. Make sure that the space available for children is adequate to accommodate up to fourteen children, which is the maximum allowed by Los Angeles County code.

2. Contact the Los Angeles County Community Care Licensing (CCL) District Office closest to where you live. Note that there are two locations, one in Monterey Park and the other in Culver City. Speak to an agent at the location you select and ask the date of the next orientation meeting. Mark down the date, time and location. Ask to be placed on the list of attendees for the meeting you have chosen.

3. Attend the Family Child Care Orientation and take notes during the event. Ask questions if you are uncertain or if information is unclear to you. Make sure you take home the packet of information handed out during the meeting and review it carefully. Get a certificate of orientation completion upon leaving the meeting. Keep the certificate in a safe location.

4. Get a tuberculosis test. Obtain the test at a public health center located in Los Angeles County or at your family physician's office. Make sure to get a copy of the test results.

5. Enroll in and complete the state mandatory CPR/First Aid/Health and Safety Course. Contact the Los Angeles County Community Care Licensing (CCL) District Office you deal with to obtain the contact information for the location closest to you that provides such training and certification.

6. Fill out the application to obtain a daycare license provided by Los Angeles County. Use the application form given to you during the orientation meeting. Complete the application in its entirety and make sure you have filled out all information correctly and accurately.

7. Send the completed application directly to the Los Angeles County Community Care Licensing Office that you are working with. Include your application fee, your TB test results, your certificate of orientation completion and your CPR/First Aid/Health and Safety Certificate of course completion.

8. Wait for up to sixty days for notification of your approval from the Los Angeles County Community Care Licensing Office. Receive your license and license number. Make copies of all information received in your acceptance packet and store the originals in a safe location.
