Store Kitchen Cabinets In Cold Storage

Kitchen cabinets can add aesthetic value to your kitchen, as well as providing a needed function. You may wish to take your old cabinets with you to a new house in the event of a relocation but you may not always be able to move into a new house right away. Cabinets can be stored when necessary, but moisture in storage should be a concern, since excessive water will damage wood. If you're storing kitchen cabinets in cold storage, keep them as dry as possible. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Disassemble the cabinet so it is in as many flat pieces as possible. Keep all the screws and knobs in a labeled plastic bag to prevent losing them.

2. Wax the pieces with a wood varnish to help sustain the wood for a longer period of time.

3. Wrap the cabinet pieces in bubble wrap. This will help prevent scratching and helps protect against moisture exposure as well.

4. Slide the wrapped pieces into a tight-fitting cardboard box. The cardboard provides further protection against water damage in cold storage.

5. Place the box or boxes in cold storage. Lay the box flat to prevent it from falling over and keep the box away from any ducts, since condensation can build up around the duct and drip down onto the cabinet pieces.
