Get The Closest Possible Shave

Shaving against the direction of your hair's growth gives the closest shave.

Getting the closest shave possible requires opening your pores, preparing the skin and then reconditioning the skin once you've finished. Shaving against the growth of your hair cuts it very close, but can also cause irritation. Use a sharp high-quality razor to cut hair close while avoiding nicks and cuts. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Take a warm shower or bath before shaving. If you don't have much time, apply a hot washcloth to the area you'll be shaving. The heat and moisture softens the hairs and opens the pores, making them easier to work with.

2. Clear your skin by applying an exfoliating scrub to the area you'll be shaving. This will reduce the buildup of dead skin and dirt to make your skin more accessible by the razor.

3. Apply shaving gel or another gentle formula to the area you'll be shaving. Work it into a thin and even lather.

4. Run your razor over your skin. Going against the direction of your hair's growth gives you the closest possible shave but can also create small cuts and razor burn. Work the razor in the direction of the growth if you have very sensitive skin.

5. Use long strokes for large areas, such as legs. Use shorter strokes for smaller areas, such as your face. Hold your skin taut while you shave, and be sure to rinse your razor often to clear it of lather and hair.

6. Splash cool water over the shaved area to close the pores once you've finished. Use a moisturizer or aftershave to recondition the skin.
