Pegboards are one way to bring style and function to your garage.
Garage organizers give you a place for all of your things, keeping them off the floor and stopping the items from cluttering up the space. Stow away the bikes, garden tools, automobile supplies and everything else you have tucked away in the garage. Use garage organizer decoration ideas to display items around the garage without adding more clutter. Does this Spark an idea?
Painted Pegboard
Pegboard pieces are made from wood and have small holes that are the ideal size for hanging pegboard hooks. The pieces attach directly to the walls of the garage with nails or screws for more strength. Give the plain white pegboards a more decorative look by painting each piece in a bright color. When you hang the items on the pegboard, trace around each piece with a black marker. Remove the pegs, and paint the outline of each item with a different color. Not only does adding more color give the garage a more decorative feel, but it also makes finding exactly where the items go easier.
Old Medicine Cabinets
Old wood or metal medicine cabinets quickly become new organizers for your garage. All you need to do is paint the cabinets in a new color or leave as-is if you like the rustic look. If you keep notes or like having a place to leave reminders for your family, paint the front of the cabinets with chalkboard paint or whiteboard paint. Once the paint dries, it creates a surface that works with chalk or erasable markers. Hang the cabinets on the garage walls, and use for the storage of smaller items. Use one cabinet to store harmful chemicals or poisons you use outdoors.
Decorative Cabinets
Add larger cabinets that are both functional and stylish. Opt for stainless steel cabinets or cabinets in a neutral plastic that work with any brighter colors in the garage. Install at least one locking cabinet that keeps harmful items out of reach of any small children in your home. Place similar items in each cabinet, such as garden and lawn items in one cabinet and automotive supplies in another.
Shelves
Add heavy-duty metal or plastic shelving units to the garage. Use brackets or mounting hardware to screw the shelves directly into the walls. Plastic milk crates, baskets and plastic storage units give you the option of grouping similar items together. Store the heaviest items on the center shelves, which keeps you from stretching or bending to reach those things.
